SENIOR ACCOUNTANTS

We are seeking to employ two full-time senior accountants with a minimum 3 years’ experience in public accounting and CA or CPA qualifications (or be working towards completion of either of these qualifications).  Ideally one of these candidates will have experience with SMSFs and be prepared to focus solely on SMSF work.

We offer the opportunity to work in a professional and friendly environment with a young, enthusiastic team.  The successful applicants will be involved in compliance and advisory issues for a diverse range of clients.  You will face fresh challenges daily on many aspects of business in today’s competitive environment. We undertake regular training and development to ensure we provide our clients with high-quality services.

 

About the Roles

Key responsibilities of the senior accountant include:

  • Preparation of BAS, financial statements and tax returns for clients
  • Assisting with business advisory services for clients including conducting research on a range of taxation issues

Key responsibilities of the senior SMSF accountant include:

  • Preparation of SMSF BASs, financial statements and income tax returns using CLASS software
  • Preparation and lodgement of TBARs and other compliance documents

Both candidates will be responsible for:

  • Developing relationships with your clients and managing your client list
  • Communicating with external parties when required (SMSF auditors, financial advisors etc)
  • Mentoring and assisting junior staff members
  • Actively prioritising tasks, managing workflow and meeting deadlines
  • Handling routine client queries without assistance from managers

About You

The successful candidates will possess the following key attributes:

  • Have CA/CPA qualifications, or be nearly complete
  • Have a minimum 3 years’ experience in a similar role
  • Strong interpersonal skills and client management experience
  • Great verbal and written communication skills
  • High level organisational skills and the ability to work towards deadlines
  • Advanced experience using accounting packages (MYOB, Reckon, Xero, etc)
  • Advanced computer skills, including use of Excel and other Microsoft products
  • Understanding of taxation law
  • Understanding of accounting principles
  • Friendly with a ‘can-do’ attitude
  • Team player

 

In additional to this, the successful SMSF candidate will have:

  • Understanding of SMSF law
  • Experience with CLASS software (advantageous but not essential)
